PHP Developer

Main Requirements:

1. Strong and demonstrable knowledge of PHP and PHP development tools.
2. Strong and demonstrable knowledge of MySQL, especially in the context of PHP development.
3. Strong background in Smarty Tags and other PHP Template engines.
4. Strong knowledge of the architecture and APIs of PHP-based systems such as Wordpress, Drupal, PHPBB, Joomla/Mambo, Textpattern, Coppermine, and others.
5. Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, DHTML, and AJAX.
6. Strong knowledge in secure PHP development particularly focused on secure PHP configuration and enforcement of code security in PHP.
7. Knowledge of Apache mod_rewrite and similar mods.

Secondary Requirments:

Strong knowledge of Apache, .htaccess, and Linux.
2. Background in usability and software interface design.
3. Knowledge of PHP extensions such as PEAR and/or PECL, particularly gd and mcrypt.
4. Digital imaging using Adobe Photoshop and/or similar tools such as GIMP.
5. Flash animation and development.
6. SEO orientation.
7. Knowledge/background in other development platforms and technologies (especially .NET)

Job Responsibilities:

The PHP Developer is responsible for the development of web applications based on open-source PHP systems such as Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, and others. The PHP Developer should be strong in the areas of PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and AJAX. The PHP Developer should also possess above average written and verbal English skills since a significant amount of time will be spent eliciting client requirements and establishing the usability of the final systems.

The successful candidate will develop, maintain, and extend all PHP-based systems, while getting the opportunity to be trained in other technologies as part of the employee development process.

Responsibilities
1. Elicit client requirements and write appropriate system specifications.
2. Design and develop secure and efficient PHP-based web solutions that conform to client requirements, utilizing suitable PHP tools and technologies.
3. Maintain and extend all PHP-based corporate web applications.
4. Assist in testing and securing PHP-based web applications.
5. Conduct research and produce Proof of Concepts of PHP-based web solutions.
